At the Beginning – 2015

At the Beginning - 2015 | this heart of mine

Hello!! Happy new year! Happy 2015.

I meant to check in at least once during the holiday break but, as you know, I didn’t. Instead, I enjoyed my family and enjoyed time away from the computer. It was so refreshing!! We saw extended family, hung out in our pajamas, dealt with some sickness and played. A lot. MJ was home with us most of the last two weeks and gosh, it was wonderful. I love when we are all home together with no real plans, even if it does get a little crazy (and loud). I’ve been spoiled having an extra set of adult sized hands to help during the day. Now it’s back to real life.

However, I haven’t been totally off the grid. The holiday afforded me a break from the go-go-go of the every day; sleeping without an alarm is such a treat. During the break, I had time to think and dream and plan. I chatted style, theme, and business plans with a smart friend, I had time to just look and be inspired by creative possibilities and with the new baby’s arrival coming soon (faster, please!!), I’ve done extensive planning for the first half of the year. The fun in planning is two fold for me. First, it’s the planning itself, the plotting out, the deciding where things fit best. And second, it’s the excitement of the content to come. Well, it makes me excited anyway. This is what I’ve got in store for this site in 2015.

More classic this heart of mine

My editorial calendar is filled with lots of projects and recipes to share in the months to come. Projects for children, for gifts, for holidays, for fun and projects just for you. And recipes for good, good food. As I said, I’m very excited.

Trying something new

Along with the classic content, I have been working on something new. I love making things with my hand and within the last year, I’ve been inspired and excited about creating on my computer. If you would have told me in college I would enjoy the Adobe Suite as much as I do, I would have scoffed and rolled my eyes. :) It’s a whole new way to be creative and I really dig it. So look for a new style of content coming soon!

Less is more

My goal is to keep a 2-3 post-per-week schedule for the year. It’s realistic for me (I’m going to be the mother of three!!!!) and will allow me time to make sure the content is top notch. Plus, I can get more nerdy about style, an aspect I really enjoy. :) Though I wish I was a content generating machine, I am a one-woman-business. I have limits. I assure you there will be plenty of good stuff to go around.

Aspirations to come

I have other goals and plans for the year but patience and being real will be key this year. Real life stuff can get crazy.

This job is exhausting and taxing and lots of times, I feel like I don’t know exactly what I’m doing. But at the same time, I am very thankful for it. I do sincerely love making, baking, cooking and creating and then styling it all up for the camera. I am a maker and I get to do that here. And I am so thankful for you. Thank you for stopping by, commenting, sharing and caring about this place I created.

Here’s to a bright and shiny 2015.

It’s the start of a new year, are you cleaning maniacally like me? I swear it’s not just hormones, I clean this way every January. Check out:
