How to Make Your Own (Darling!) Snowman Marshmallows

Make Your Own Snowman Marshmallows. It's so simple! | this heart of mine

Hello! Happy new year! Happy 2016. Tell me. How was your holiday and break? I hope it was wonderful and restful for you and yours. Ours was lovely. Lots of togetherness, impromptu dances parties, wrestle fights and midday naps. Our schedule got muddled a bit (except for bedtime for the sake of we, the parents) and I think that was one of the best parts. Doing whatever whenever. I read five books, a detective series I really enjoyed. MJ built a LEGO Millennium Falcon. It finally snowed! Love Bug and Sweet J sledded down our hill and did a little snow wrestling now and again. We also found cool trails through the woods and frozen marsh behind our house and all five of us tromped through them a bunch. Pipsqueak didn’t walk the trails but did demand to walk in the driveway with the rest of us. He seems like a natural in the winter weather. As always, the break went too fast.

Almost every day of break, the Love Bug and Sweet J enjoyed mugs of hot chocolate. It became as daily event, a regular event like a meals. Their drinks were generously topped with marshmallows and, because we had a few laying around, we also added in mini candy canes. They drank it sitting at the kitchen counter and, even though I didn’t always share a cup with them, I liked standing there with them, listening to their chatter.

I am snowman smitten so when I saw these darling faces, I thought they would be perfect for the children’s hot cocoa and I knew I could make them myself. Using both homemade and store-bought mallows, I created these sweeties. And they do make hot chocolate just a bit sweeter.

Melt the almond bark/candy melts.  Use them to make the snowman faces. Allow them to dry completely and then add them to your mugs of hot chocolate.

Here are a couple of tips:

-Because so little is need to make the faces, I tinted white almond bark orange for the noses.

-However, deep color is hard to attain with almond bark so candy melts are a better choice for colors like red.

-To keep the melted coating soft and usable, submerge them in a bowl of hot water and massaging the bag until the colors are soft enough to use.

-If a mistake is made, simply allow it to dry and them scrape it off and redo.
