Never & Always: The Tragedies of the Ridiculous & Sleep Deprived

Never & Always: The Tragedies of the Ridiculous & Sleep Deprived | this heart of mine

The other morning I was thinking about psychological torture, as one does when they sit at a traffic light on a mundane morning in the winter. I wondered about the effects of serious sleep deprivation: impaired judgment, decision-making difficulties, heightened emotions, confusion. As I made my turn, I wondered if the average mom of young… Read More

Everything You Need to Know to Make a Photo Wall

Make an Amazing Photo Wall in Your Home | this heart of mine

Almost immediately after we moved in, I imagined a photo wall on the narrow wall between the kitchen and living room. It’s kind of a no man’s land for furniture. We tried a few things – a small table with a lamp and a small stool, a floor lamp. Each got the Pipsqueak treatment –… Read More

Easy Peasy Love Potion No. 9 Bubble Valentines for School

Love Potion No. 9 Bubble Valentines | this heart of mine

It’s Valentine time! The stores are filled with reds and pinks and hearts and I LOVE it. It’s my favorite. It’s a bit dangerous for me to visit any store because I want to buy it all. But enough about that. It’s our second year of making two sets of valentines for classmates: one for Love Bug,… Read More

Before We Go…

Before We Go... | this heart of mine

Whew, y’all. How was your week? Was yours a wild and crazy, jam-packed blur like mine? This week was so full and it makes me so thankful for a three-day weekend. My brain is a bit buzzed. I am at the bottom of a few learning curves, looking straight up, and it’s a bit daunting. I’ll get the… Read More

16 🥳 My baby. ❤️ Life is going to be different fro 16 🥳 My baby. ❤️ Life is going to be different from now on. It’s a good different but things won’t ever be like they were. What I don’t think is covered well enough in birthing/ parenting classes is this “growing up and away” business. The marvelous new being we brought home all too quickly rightly becomes her own person. And it’s fantastic. The personality, the perspective, the humor, the growth. It’s such an honor to watch her life unfold day by day. But I can’t deny that part of me misses the baby that fit in my arms and I do feel grief for the milestones yet to come. Part of me wants to freeze time to prevent any more changes but every change is a new bright unfolding. So here I’ll stay. Watching, marveling and loving this beautiful creature. ❤️
Officially a teen. 🎉 Where does the time go. Seems Officially a teen. 🎉 Where does the time go. Seems like just yesterday that my sweet baby boy arrived, all squishy and snuggly. Now we stand nearly eye to eye and unfortunately, I don’t think I’m going to get any taller. I’m so proud of the person he is and I’m excited for all that is to come. So thankful to be his mom. Love him so. ❤️
