A Celiac Diagnosis Means Gluten Free Eating

We are starting a new adventure this year: gluten free cooking, baking and eating. After a routine blood test brought it to our attention and an endoscopy confirmed, our Lady Love was diagnosed with celiac’s disease in December. To support her and because we want to eat together and share food, we are doing the… Read More

Alphabet Magnets

Alphabet Magnets | this heart of mine

Despite the infrequent posts here, I am still making! It’s my thing. :) When I traveled to Portland this fall, in a cute little shop, I saw a set of letter disk magnets. They were plastic-like but the coloring reminded me of light-colored wood and wood-burned letters. Since I’ve had fun with my wood-burning tool… Read More

Art Workshop For Children

Art Workshop for Children | this heart of mine

If I haven’t said it before, I believe being creative is an imperative part of living and growing. Creativity has so many forms. It’s not limited to the projects and food stuff I share here. That being said, when Bar Rucci of Art Bar sent me a copy of her book Art Worshop for Children: How to… Read More

How to Have a “Goods” Summer

How to Have a "Goods" Summer | this heart of mine

So. Summer is coming. I know that. But I might have put it a bit too far out of my mind because when Love Bug told me yesterday she had five days of school remaining, my vision went blurry for a few moments and I got light-headed. FIVE DAYS?! What?! Oh my goodness. I can feel my… Read More

Filling Easter Baskets with Fun with Fisher-Price

Filling Easter Baskets with Fun with Fisher Price | this heart of mine

This post is sponsored by Fisher-Price. This will be our first Easter in our new home and I am really, really excited for it: Easter baskets, a more-fancy-than-a-weeknight meal, an egg hunt (crossing our fingers for nice weather on the day!!). I’m particularly excited for the egg hunt. We’ve done a few hunts here and there but… Read More

16 🥳 My baby. ❤️ Life is going to be different fro 16 🥳 My baby. ❤️ Life is going to be different from now on. It’s a good different but things won’t ever be like they were. What I don’t think is covered well enough in birthing/ parenting classes is this “growing up and away” business. The marvelous new being we brought home all too quickly rightly becomes her own person. And it’s fantastic. The personality, the perspective, the humor, the growth. It’s such an honor to watch her life unfold day by day. But I can’t deny that part of me misses the baby that fit in my arms and I do feel grief for the milestones yet to come. Part of me wants to freeze time to prevent any more changes but every change is a new bright unfolding. So here I’ll stay. Watching, marveling and loving this beautiful creature. ❤️
Officially a teen. 🎉 Where does the time go. Seems Officially a teen. 🎉 Where does the time go. Seems like just yesterday that my sweet baby boy arrived, all squishy and snuggly. Now we stand nearly eye to eye and unfortunately, I don’t think I’m going to get any taller. I’m so proud of the person he is and I’m excited for all that is to come. So thankful to be his mom. Love him so. ❤️
