Keeping Cool with Strawberries & Cream Popsicles with Silk Creamer

Have you heard? It’s summertime. Summer is sunshine, beach time, relaxed schedule and did I mention sunshine? Summer is also bugs, sweating and me, walking the tightrope of sanity managing a busy house. The children and I have a full list of things we want to do in the next three months. Beach trips, books… Read More

Bacon-Wrapped Tater Tots….Because Yum

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Kraft Heinz. The opinions are all mine. Next to Alaska, Minnesota has the second highest concentration of hockey players. Being that MJ and I grew up out-of-state, we are still learning what it means to be from inside a hockey state. Our teen neighbor… Read More

A Celiac Diagnosis Means Gluten Free Eating

We are starting a new adventure this year: gluten free cooking, baking and eating. After a routine blood test brought it to our attention and an endoscopy confirmed, our Lady Love was diagnosed with celiac’s disease in December. To support her and because we want to eat together and share food, we are doing the… Read More

Martha Stewart’s Vegetables

Martha Stewart's Vegetable | this heart of mine

The winter is hardest vegetable season for me. It’s colder and darker and the sparkle (and freshness) of summer seems so far away. But eating vegetables is important for healthy living so when I opened the new Martha Stewart’s Vegetables book, I read it like a page-turning mystery. Lots of ideas for so many types of… Read More

Scandinavian Gatherings

My friend, Melissa of Lulu the Baker, wrote a book called Scandinavian Gatherings and it’s beautiful! Her book is a gorgeous collection of simple recipes and crafts, all with Scandinavian flair. Some of my ancestors hail from Scandinavia. Sadly, we don’t do much to celebrate this heritage but Melissa’s book sure gets me excited. Everything looks so yummy and… Read More

16 🥳 My baby. ❤️ Life is going to be different fro 16 🥳 My baby. ❤️ Life is going to be different from now on. It’s a good different but things won’t ever be like they were. What I don’t think is covered well enough in birthing/ parenting classes is this “growing up and away” business. The marvelous new being we brought home all too quickly rightly becomes her own person. And it’s fantastic. The personality, the perspective, the humor, the growth. It’s such an honor to watch her life unfold day by day. But I can’t deny that part of me misses the baby that fit in my arms and I do feel grief for the milestones yet to come. Part of me wants to freeze time to prevent any more changes but every change is a new bright unfolding. So here I’ll stay. Watching, marveling and loving this beautiful creature. ❤️
Officially a teen. 🎉 Where does the time go. Seems Officially a teen. 🎉 Where does the time go. Seems like just yesterday that my sweet baby boy arrived, all squishy and snuggly. Now we stand nearly eye to eye and unfortunately, I don’t think I’m going to get any taller. I’m so proud of the person he is and I’m excited for all that is to come. So thankful to be his mom. Love him so. ❤️
