Succulent Wreath

Hanging Succulent Frame | this heart of mine

Succulents are a favorite of mine. Right now, our houses and homes are decked out in a different kind of greenery but, in my opinion, lots of green is good. Succulents are cute and harder to kill than the average plant (I’ve conducted numerous tests). I like their fat leaves, their rounded edges and the variety,… Read More

Alphabet Magnets

Alphabet Magnets | this heart of mine

Despite the infrequent posts here, I am still making! It’s my thing. :) When I traveled to Portland this fall, in a cute little shop, I saw a set of letter disk magnets. They were plastic-like but the coloring reminded me of light-colored wood and wood-burned letters. Since I’ve had fun with my wood-burning tool… Read More

Scandinavian Gatherings

My friend, Melissa of Lulu the Baker, wrote a book called Scandinavian Gatherings and it’s beautiful! Her book is a gorgeous collection of simple recipes and crafts, all with Scandinavian flair. Some of my ancestors hail from Scandinavia. Sadly, we don’t do much to celebrate this heritage but Melissa’s book sure gets me excited. Everything looks so yummy and… Read More

Bold. Bohemian. Beautiful: Make a Coffee Filter Flower Crown

Bold. Bohemian. Beautiful: Make a Coffee Filter Flower Crown | this heart of mine

It’s springtime which means it’s the perfect time to make a flower crown. Now, it’s okay to admit that we all dream about the stunning real flower ones. If I had the budget, I make a new one every week. Grocery shopping would be so much more chic with a flower crown atop my head. I… Read More

How to Naturally Dye Eggs Red Hues | this heart of mine

natural egg dye red, orange, yellow, green & blue Here’s the last color of my dye-all-the-eggs-all-the-colors-of-the-rainbow project. I really can’t get enough of it. I do love the colors but it’s the shape of the egg I love too. They are the perfect pair. I’ve shared blue, green, yellow and orange and to complete the scheme,… Read More

16 🥳 My baby. ❤️ Life is going to be different fro 16 🥳 My baby. ❤️ Life is going to be different from now on. It’s a good different but things won’t ever be like they were. What I don’t think is covered well enough in birthing/ parenting classes is this “growing up and away” business. The marvelous new being we brought home all too quickly rightly becomes her own person. And it’s fantastic. The personality, the perspective, the humor, the growth. It’s such an honor to watch her life unfold day by day. But I can’t deny that part of me misses the baby that fit in my arms and I do feel grief for the milestones yet to come. Part of me wants to freeze time to prevent any more changes but every change is a new bright unfolding. So here I’ll stay. Watching, marveling and loving this beautiful creature. ❤️
Officially a teen. 🎉 Where does the time go. Seems Officially a teen. 🎉 Where does the time go. Seems like just yesterday that my sweet baby boy arrived, all squishy and snuggly. Now we stand nearly eye to eye and unfortunately, I don’t think I’m going to get any taller. I’m so proud of the person he is and I’m excited for all that is to come. So thankful to be his mom. Love him so. ❤️
