A Year in Review- 2011

Happy 2012! Hope everyone had a fun ringing in the new year. I made it until 11pm and then called it quits. My day (my 30th birthday) started at 5am with Sweet J so I was spent. The new year came anyway so all is good.

I know we are already two days into 2012 but I’m still wrapping up 2011. I have so much to share but I’m trying to remember, one day at a time. So here is to finishing up the old year. It was another good year, filled with wonderfulness and sleep deprivation, laughter and a few tears, mostly happy ones and lots of enjoyable projects and foodie things and photos for me here on this heArt of mine. Here are some of my favorite posts of 2011.

10. Infinity Ombre Scarf

Really enjoyed this project, even had a big dying party at my house which included 6 buckets of dye in the middle of my family room. Easy-to-find materials, easy-to-do project and the outcome is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind accessory.

9. Transfer Image Charms

Once I learned about the image transferring process with the photo canvases, I thought it would be fun to do it in a smaller size. A much quicker and easier transferring process, plus the final product is a bit more portable.

8. Car Art Lap Desk

My brain really had to work on this one but they were well worth it. Many a car ride has been better being filled with doodles and Love Bug’s ‘scrunchy face’ drawings.

7. Roasted Corn

One of my favorite food finds of the year. Who knew that simply throwing corn ears on the grill would make such a delicious treat? Can’t wait for summer to come around again (for a number of reasons) to enjoy this good eat.

6. Memory Game

I loved making this game for our family. I love the red heart design on the back. But most of all, I love the memories we’ve made playing it together.

5. It’s a Wonder Wall

This was a project that, once in the middle of it, I was really worried it was going to be a huge disaster. I envisioned it but didn’t know if I was going to be capable of pulling it off. But it ended up better than I thought. Of course, the best part in the personal effects.

4. NUTELLA!

My love for this delectable spread grew into incorporating it into other items. Wonder what will come next?

Nutella Hot Chocolate

Nutella Buttercream Frosting

Nutella Hazelnut Cookies

3. Bottle Cap Wine Glass Charms

This was another project where I wasn’t sure that what I envisioned would work out but again I was pleasantly surprised. Polymer clay is pretty much my favorite medium to work with and it was so gratifying to create these.

2. My children!

My very favorite posts are the ones about my children and life (how selfish is that?!). :) What can I say, I am a mother in love with her children. They drive me insane some days but they are the bright suns of my day and life and being home with them them is such a blessing.

A Puppy Halloween

Six Whole Months

2.1 I also love my MJ. He is the ying to my yang, the bread to my butter and the cheese to my macaroni. Life would not be complete without him. Plus, I wouldn’t laugh nearly as much as I do with him around.

Photo Skills

1. The Wait is Over

The biggest event for us this year was the addition of Sweet J. My pregnancy was a long, rather sick one so his arrival was so very sweet indeed. Since then, he has seamlessly joined our little family, accepted the loud, chaotic times and joined in at making our home just a little messier. I can’t imagine him not with us. His sweet face, his fluffy rolls, his snuggles, all wonderful. Now, if he could only sleep…. :)

I hosted my first series, 25 Days of Cookies, with help from a wonderful group of guest bloggers. It was so much fun to work with them all and I am so thankful for their contributions.

Also, I started occasionally sharing shots of our life in a personal series called {Foto Fridays} which has been an enjoyable way for me to catalog happenings.

And finally, another big thank you to you all for stopping by and hanging out here at this heArt of mine. It’s been two whole years already of blogging and I’m still having fun. More on that stuff tomorrow including a give-away!!

2011 was a great year. Lots of good stuff. I’m excited to see what 2012 has in store.

Life is good.

Take care.
