Shrinky Dink Animal Magnets

Shrinky Dink Animal Magnets with Free Printable!! | this heart of mine

I’m not sure how I missed the shrinky dink movement but I’m making up for lost time. I still love the animal shapes we used for the screen printed tees last summer and thought they would make the sweetest magnets. Aren’t they though? I used shrink film for use in ink jet printers so all I had to do is print the animals, cut them out and cure them in the oven. So quick and easy! And watching the film shrink in the oven is so fun. My face might have been pressed up against the oven window each time.

There are two animal shape sizes available to print – 4.5 inch and 2 inch. The larger size is perfect for animal-shape magnets and the smaller size can be cut to make darling little disks. I love both of them!

Supplies:

-animal shape printable – 2 inch size & 4.5 inch size
Ink Jet Shrink Film
-printer
-scissors
-oven
-glue
-magnets

1. With the Ink Jet Shrink Film, all you have to do is print the animal shape PDF on to it with an ink jet printer.

2. Cut out the shapes and cure in the oven according to the directions. The shapes will shrink by 50% and the film will get thicker.

3. When the shapes have cooled, attach a magnet with glue.

Tips to make your shrinky dinks the best:

-Place the baking sheet in the oven for 3 minutes before adding the shrink film. The heated sheet seems to help the film do less curling and contorting.

-If the final shape is a little wavy, take it right out of the oven, quickly flip the shapes over on the sheet and press them flat with something flat (like a book).

That’s it!
